Let's Learn Center

My kiddos seem to like learning new things if it is done in a fun way that relates to their interests.  There are soooo many blogs of great quick and easy activities to do at home with the tiny tot set.  I seem to pin a lot of these ideas to Pinterest, but don't always sit down to actually make the activities even though a lot of the time I have the supplies at home already.  I needed a way to get things a little bit more organized and easily accessible.  I decided to sit down and actually do a few of the activities and then organize them in a crate with hanging file folders.
Here are some of the activities that I completed this month for the kids to do:
I printed and laminated this great Dump Truck Counting Mat to use with some transportation beads we have.  I printed and laminated these Lego Counting Mats as well.

I was really excited when I saw that these boy themed lace up cards were the free shape of the week from Silhouette recently.  We love lace cards at our house.  I printed them out, used the Silhouette to cut them out, laminated them and then punched the holes in.
I also printed up, cut and laminated a bunch of these Lego Patterns cards.

I also love the Preschool and Tot Learning Packs from this website.  I've printed up and laminated the packs for Cars, Doc McStuffins, and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.  They have all been a hit at our house!

St. Louis Cardinal Magnets

Allison is a BIG St. Louis Cardinals fan and in honor of the start of baseball season she decided to update her magnet collection.  She printed out photos of each of her favorite players and then glued the photos to clear gems with clear glass glue.  Then she attached a magnet with super glue.

Crochet Washcloths and Cat Toy

I had some extra yarn after some of the baby blankets I have made, so I decided to use the last little bit of yarn up to make some nice washcloths and gave them to the babies for bath time.  They were quick to do and fun because I was able to play around with some different stitches to just see how they look in a finished project.

Brandon's Grandma use to make some pot scrubbers out of cotton yarn, so I also made a few of those.  She made them 1 layer and crocheted in the round.  I decided to make this one a multilayer one to see if it helped clean dishes better.  I haven't found out since the boys love to have this in the bathtub to scrub themselves clean!

This was suppose to be a second layer on one of my scrubbers, but instead the cats have decided that it is a fun little toy for them to bat around.  I might need to make more and lace them with some catnip!

Hot Pad for Bowls

Vicki sewed a curved hot pad that is the perfect shape for a bowl of morning oatmeal.  No more hot hands!

Hair clips

Vicki made a bunch of hair clips for her dance kids.  She took regular plastic combs and then hot glued flowers to them.

3D Art Piece

Kelly made this piece after being inspired by this artist at the Des Moines Art Festival.  She attached some dinosaurs to a picture frame with glue.  The glass had previously been removed from the frame.  Then she gave the whole thing a coat of spray paint.

April Showers....

So this month's project kind of made me wish I had a sewing machine or at the very least was a faster sewer!  I sewed straps, velcro, and a letter on my towel as inspired by Sewlikemymom.  Bring on the April Showers : )
