Kitchen Scrubbies

This month Vicki made some kitchen scrubbies.  She crocheted them using rough netting.  They work so much better than the regular scotch kitchen pads.

Kitchen Decoration

I was feeling extra ambitious this month:) I've had these canvases on my "want to do" list for a while. I took acrylic paint and gave the canvases two coats a piece - still had a bit of white showing through, but liked the look. Then I used the Silhouette to cut out the sayings and coffee cup in black vinyl and attached it to one canvas. Then I used adhesive backed card stock to cut out the olive and heart. Once I attached everything to the canvas I gave it a good coat of Mod Podge to give it a bit of gloss. We are a house that likes our coffee and olive - though not together!

Valentines Day Kids Crafts

So this month I enlisted the help of my son, Holden.  For Valentines day presents, I helped him make paper heart wreaths for the grandmas and a bird seed ornament for Daddy.  The bird seed ornament was made by cutting a heart out of cardboard, spreading shortening onto the heart, and then pressing bird seed onto the shortening.

Recycled Frames

These frames were originally brass colored bamboo and a dark green.  Kelly gave them new life by spray painting them white.
Then Kelly spray painted over an old print with celery green and painted a silhouette of a bird on a branch to go in the frame.  She put the mirrors back into the two smaller frames.

14 Days of Valentines

So instead of the 12 days of Christmas I decided to do the 14 Days of Valentines for my Hubby. Each day he got to open a card that either had a gift, theme for the day, or a date plan inside. The first day he got a muffin tin countdown that each day had one of my favorite love quotes for him to read. The numbers, muffin tin countdown idea, and several of the dates we had I borrowed from The Dating Divas! Below are a few pictures from the two weeks: Day 4 was breakfast in bed, Day 6 was a special Monday morning CD/itunes mix for his drive to the office with lyrics that I love written out, Day 8 was baking dessert together, Day 9 was a specially packed lunch (note: my attempt at Mater thanks to the Funky Lunch Bunch) and the last day was the all about him basket - with 100 reasons why I love him and small corresponding gifts. Happy Valentines Day everyone! : )

No Sew Fleece Blankets

I made my first ever no-sew fleece blankets. Not sure why I hadn't done it before. They are for my kiddos for V day. I'm sure they will be a hit!

Valentine's Day Robot Shirts

Okay, so at this rate I'm going to just make shirts every month this year, but that's okay when I see my kids so happy to wear something I made! Once again, I used my Silhouette and their heat transfer material. Aiden's shirt is flocked black with a smooth red heart, and Parker's shirt is their shiny metallic, with a smooth red heart.

UPDATE - The layering the heat transfer vinyl works fine the day you iron it, HOWEVER, it does not last if you iron it on the flocked vinyl.  Aiden's shirt no longer has a heart, but Parkers worked just fine!

Rhinestone Heart Shirt

Today I made a rhinestone shirt using the Silhouette. It's for my daughter Zoe to wear for Valentine's Day. She had a great time picking out what color rhinestones to use. She selected yellow, clear, blue, green and of course some pink.
