Sheet Music Envelopes

Another project Kelly did this month was to take old sheet music and fold it into usable envelopes.  The top picture shows the steps to folding and the bottom is the finished product.

Floating Frame Wall

This month Kelly finished her Floating Frame wall, which she started here.  She has painted several more frames and now hung them all on her wall.

Scrapbook Pages

This month Valerie made a "quilted" scrapbook page out of pictures of her old high school marching band t-shirts.  She stitched the title of of Marching Band (seen below) to tie into the quit theme.  She decided that showcasing her memorabilia this way was easier than making an actual quilt out of all her old t-shirts.  Certainly much quicker too:)

Birthday T-shirt

This month Allison made a shirt for her co-worker Becky to wear to her birthday party.  Instead of presents or a birthday dinner Becky requested that people take the money they would have spent and donate it to http://www.americanforests.org  to plant trees in needed areas.  To make the shirt Allison used the Silhouette to cut out green and brown heat transfer.  The front of the shirt says, "It's my birthday, buy me a tree!"  And the back has the website address of the organization and their logo.

Baby Book

This month I created a baby book for two new nieces that are on the way soon!  I used Photoshop Elements to make the pages with a purchased digital elements kit by NewlifeDreamsDesigns.  There were 20 pages total, here are just a few.

Split Letter Design

I've got a wedding this weekend for a close friend of the family (i.e. just buying something at Target doesn't seem appropriate).  I decided to make them a split letter like I made for Brandon and I.  I used Anabel Alt for the background T and Garamond for all of the words.  I designed it and cut it out using my Silhouette and Oracal 631 vinyl.

Painted Closets

So, Brandon left for a week long conference this month. Before he left, I surprised him by painting our bathroom closet while he was at work.  I forgot to take before pictures, but you can imagine a plain old contractor flat paint white closet.  I decided to paint this closet the same color as our bedroom.  I am very happy with how it turned out.  I also used my silhouette to cut out vinyl labels for the bins.  This is a vast improvement over the index cards that use to label these bins!

While Brandon was gone, I surprised him by painting our bedroom clothes closet.  I ended up painting the ceiling the same color as our bedroom, the ceiling trim for the attic door ceiling white, and the walls a lighter shade of the ceiling color.  I also bought this new hook rack and got it up on the wall.  I am so happy with my new closets, that I'm trying to figure out what color I can paint every other closet in my house!

Superhero Shirts

So, what do you give the kid who LOVES superheros and has probably EVERY toy available..superhero shirts!  I traced both the Captain America and the Batman logo with my Silhouette software and then cut it out in heat transfer vinyl and layered it on the shirts.

Art Display

My children love to make art and craft things - hmmmm wonder where they get that from? Anytime a grandparent visits they often walk away with a picture, or something a little more exotic.  I put together this display frame together for the in-laws to hang some of the pictures they receive.  I took a 11x14 frame, took the glass out and in its place put some cork.  The cork came in a 12x24 inch roll so I cut it down to size with my Xacto knife on a self healing mat.  Then I placed it into the frame. Viola!  Easy and functional.  Now they can rotate out the art work with ease.

Remodels and Farewells

So I figured the last month of summer was a good one to fit in some random projects.  First on my list was our Before and After House Book.  We bought our house as a fixer-uper and have put in quite a bit of work so we figured this was a great way to display the change and will be a nice keepsake of our first big project together for down the road.  I finally got all my photos printed and put the before/after shots for each room side by side writing what we had changed about each room and our favorite parts of turning our house into a home.

For my second project I put together a gift basket for my best friend who is going back to school this fall in California.  I got some practical and gag gifts and attached ribbons and notes to each item explaining why it was a college essential.  She got some good laughs out of it and ensured me that it would be put to good use.
